After massive public outcry following Mayor Bloomberg’s $40 million in proposed cuts to the New York Public Library, a budget was approved on 6/29/11 that only cuts $3.3 million from the NYPL budget for 2012.
NYPL issued a press release with a statement from their PR Director Angela Monefinise that said that no New York libraries will need to close as a result of the new budget. She also went on to thank everyone in New York for their huge support even in the face of an incredibly difficult economy.
