College students force UCSD library to open for finals

California colleges have been home to several protests lately, but one that happened yesterday at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) seems to make sense.

Yesterday, university students broke into a UCSD library that had been closed over the summer due to budget cuts.  They were not trying to steal or damage anything.  They were not trying to make a political statement.  They just wanted a place to study for finals. [Read more…]

Washington DC Public Library forgiving fines for two months

Penguin restores ebook lending at public libraries

Penguin issued a statement today saying that they had restored their ebooks to libraries earlier this morning.  They specifically pointed out that their titles can be checked out in the Kindle format.  New releases from Penguin will still not be available at libraries. [Read more…]
