Certificate Information

Vital records are available from the either the local county register in which they were filed or from the Wyoming Department of Health. Birth and death records are available from the state from July 1909 to present. Marriage and divorce records from May 1941 to present. Birth records are considered public records 100 years after their filing date. Death, marriage and divorce records become public record 50 years after their filing date.

Searches for birth, marriage and divorce certificates cost $13 dollars. Death records cost $10 dollars unless date is unknown, then a $13 dollar fee is applied to each 5 year search bracket.

Adoption Records

Adoption records are sealed and considered confidential once the process is completed. There is a Confidential Intermediary Program available that can be used to find and unlock sealed records or help find birth relatives. Filing for a petition costs $60 dollars and search fees can be in excess of $150 dollars.
